U9B TKO Jersey Co participated in the Guelph Gryphons Spring Classic Tournament this weekend coming out with a 1-1-1 record over their three games.
Game 1 on Saturday saw the girls battling hard against the Woolwich Wild but coming up short on goals for a 4-2 loss. Game 2 Saturday afternoon was against the host team where the game stayed close into the second period with a 3-1 lead. Scoring broke open in the third with goals from all three lines for a final of 9-2.
Our final game was played Sunday morning against the Wilmot Wolverines. Wilmot come out strong and got a couple quick goals to see the Wildcats down by two early in the game. Our team played strong and got two goals back to tie the game in the second, but Wilmot answered with two more goals and see us down again 4-2 with 6 minutes left in the third. The girls "never give up" attitude kicked in and we clawed our way back to tie the game at 4-4!
We had great goaltending throughout the weekend to keep games close and all of our players contributed to the success of our team. It was great to get some extra games in before we head to the provincial tournament in a couple weeks!
