FAQ regarding Wildcats Competitive teams
Q. What age groups have competitive teams?
A. The Wildcats field competitive teams in all age groups (Novice, Atom, Peewee, Bantam, Midget).
Q. Where/who they play against?
A. The teams play in the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League. Teams in this league are generally found between Toronto and Woodstock, but also include the surrounding London area.
Q. Is there an extra charge to play on a rep team?
A. There are some extra costs compared to House league teams. There is a cost to play in the League championship weekend as well as the cost to play at the provincial championships. All tournament fees are extra as well. An extra $100 is charged for teams that have mandated 1.5 hour games (to cover additional ice and referee costs) - at this time only Midget A would fall under this.
Q. When does the season Start and End?
A. Tryouts begin the first week after Labour Day, with practices and exhibition games until the end of September. The regular season starts October 1 and ends January 31. Playoffs and playdowns start February 1. The season ends once the teams is knocked out of playoffs and playdowns or at the Provincial Championships which is traditionally the second weekend of April.
Q. What are provincial playdowns?
A. Competitive teams are eligible to play in provincial playdowns. These are a series of playoff-type games that, if successful, will qualify the team for the Provincial Championships. These are in addition to the League playoffs, conducted to crown League Champions.
