Wildcats Atom B take Silver!
Over the weekend, the amazing Atom B girls played 6 hard-fought games to capture the Silver medal at the Guelph Winter Classic tournament!
The team went undefeated in round robin play with wins over Brampton, Flamborough and tie versus Guelph.
Prior to the Quarterfinals, some of the girls competed in a skills competition. Laura Davies won the best goalie competition and Emma Holm was the top shootout scorer. Teammate Sarah Connors finished second in the competition. This was in a field of 16 shooters and 8 goalies. What an amazing job!
In the Elimination Round, the Wildcats defeated Haldimand 2-0 to move on to a 8:00am Semi on Sunday. In the Semifinal, the Wildcats took the early lead in the first against the Honeybaked 10U team. Honeybaked stormed back to take the lead with 5 minutes left in the in the third. With a power play marker by Eva Wilson to tie it up with 2 minutes left, the game was off to overtime. Starting the overtime with a successful 4-3 penalty kill the Wildcats got the winning goal on aggressive pinch by Brooklynn Malott who stormed on the goal and shot the rebound past the goalie.
In the Final, the Wildcats played a competitive game against Lakeshore, but with fatigue setting in the Lightning took an early 3-0 lead after the first. The girls worked hard over the next two periods but good fortune was not on their side. The final was 4-1.
