Season Opening Weekend
Wildcats go 3-0 over the weekend.
I was exciting weekend for the Atom U13 B team with 3 consecutive wins to start their regular season. Friday night saw the Wildcats start off slow in the first two periods but gained life in the third period with a power play tally by Paige K. That got things start as Jillian T. scored to make it 2-0 and empty net goal by Holly M. to finish the Game at 3-0 against the South Huron Sabres.
Game 2 on Saturday had the Wildcats travel to London. Once again a tight first period saw lots of shots on net in the first and one goal Reille C. The Devilettes tied it up at the beginning of the third but the girls showed good bounce back by getting two goals in the third by Brooklyn J. and a second tally by Reille C. Laura D. made all of the key saves to preserve the win for the Wildcats 3-1.
Game 3 Sunday had St. Thomas Panthers. The Wildcats started slow showing some fatigue in their legs and the Panthers put a bunch of shots on the net and Laura D. was sharp to keep the game at zeros. Second period saw the Wildcats gain some life from a strong penalty kill and Brooklyn J. found the net on a rebound goal to put the team up 1-0 at the end of 2. At the start of the third, the Panthers got a goal of a weird bounce of the head of the defensemen. Not long after Brooklyn J. scores the winner with a solid display of skating and ripped the puck by the Panthers goal. One more insurance goal by Paige K. to put the team up 3-1.
